Vasaka Capsules
The leaves have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 2000 years primarily for respiratory disorders. They act as alterative, anthelmintic, antiasthmatic, antispasmodic, anthelmintic, antitussive, bronchodilator, diuretic, powerful expectorant, febrifuge, mucolytic, oxytocic, sedative and uterotonic. They are well known for their beneficial effects in bronchitis and other chest conditions. In acute bronchitis they were found always to afford relief, especially where the sputum was thick and tenacious. In chronic bronchitis the cough is relieved and the sputum is liquefied so that it is brought up easily. Also used for treating cold, cough, tuberculosis, whooping cough and asthma. It has also been used to speed delivery during childbirth. It strengthens and invigorates the uterus. It has been used to control both internal and external bleeding such as peptic ulcers, piles and bleeding gums. The leaves are useful in diarrhoea, dysentery, haemoptysis and in bleeding of dysentery.
COMPOSITION :
Each 250 mg. capsule contains:
Adhatoda vasica Dried Extract (0.5% Alkaloid) (Adusa) 250 mg.
INDICATIONS : Asthma, Bleeding Gums, Breathlessness, Bronchitis - Acute and Chronic, Common Cold, Cough, Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Dyspnoea, Emphysema, Fevers, Haemoptysis, Haemorrhage, Haemorrhoids, Loss of Memory, Peptic Ulcer, Phlegm, Tuberculosis and Whooping Cough.
CONTRAINDICATIONS : During pregnancy except during labour.
SIDE EFFECTS : None
DOSAGE : Take 1 or 2 capsules twice a day after meals. Allow several weeks for benefits. The use of natural products provides progressive but long-lasting results.
DIETARY ADVICE : For best results use in conjunction with life-style changes such as avoiding certain food groups, reducing exposure to pollutants and learning to deal with emotional distress. Common asthma-provoking allergens include sugar, banana, eggs, carbonated drinks, orange squash, fried food, ice cream, dairy products, white pasta, salt, preservatives, chemicals, drugs, dust, mites, pets, environmental pollutants, smoking, food additives, MSG, fumes and tobacco smoke to name a few. At least 75% of your diet should consist of raw fruits (orange, grapefruit, etc.), vegetables, oily fish, whole grains, raw nuts (not roasted), seeds and greens. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Avoid asthma causing emotional stimuli such as anger, anxiety and depression.
